Our Mission: Education & Access
True community safety isn’t just about training individuals on the range—it starts at home. The Community Safety Initiative is Haven Training Group’s dedicated public outreach program, designed to bridge the gap between safety education and practical, everyday security for families across the Indianapolis metropolitan area.
We believe that financial barriers should never stand in the way of a secure home. Through this initiative, we provide 100% free community seminars focused on responsible firearm storage, accident prevention, and home security, alongside free safety equipment for households with children.
What We Provide
1. Free Family Safety Seminars
Our non-live-fire, classroom-style seminars offer a welcoming, low-pressure environment for parents, guardians, and community members. Led by certified instructors, these sessions cover:
- Accident Prevention: How to effectively talk to children about firearm safety using proven, age-appropriate frameworks.
- Safe Storage Reality: Moving past myths to understand how different locking mechanisms fit your daily routine.
- Home Defense Fundamentals: Simple, actionable strategies to harden your home against external threats.
2. Free Security Hardware
Education is only half the battle; families need the right tools. At every community seminar, we distribute free, high-quality lockboxes and/or cable locks to families with children in the home. By removing the cost barrier, we ensure that safe storage is an immediate reality, not a future luxury.
How It’s Funded
This initiative is entirely powered by our Community Safety Fund. Every dollar donated to the fund goes directly toward purchasing lockboxes, safety hardware, and educational materials distributed right here in our local community. HTG absorbs the operational and instructional costs because we believe a safer Indy benefits us all.
Also, codified in our founding documents is the requirement that all excess funds (any money that does not go to paying instructors, venues, or for other reasonable expenses and overhead) be moved into the CSF and be used exclusively to support the CSI.
